Millesan Drews 1940s

Early picture of Millesan Drews and her Pixies. (1940s)

The Drews Pixies of the 1940s were all handmade by Millesan Drews.  Founded in Portland, Oregon in September of 1939, Pixie Potters would move to Los Angeles in 1945.

Many Drews Pixies of this era have large hats, frilly collars, and deep-set eyes. It is amazing to see these little figurines that have survived for over seventy years. Take a close look at the Pixie riding a turtle in the gallery below. Someone took great care of this little guy. These Pixies are all in my collection and photographed by Adriene Clampitt. Any unremarkable and poorly lit pictures are my own.
